This story is about a young couple, Ayan and Alekhya. They are madly in love with each other. Alekhya leaves for London to pursue her studies after being unable to earn admission into an Indian university because of insufficient marks. She leaves India without telling anyone except her parents due to the dramatic consequence of this decision. Ayan is heartbroken but continues with his life, albeit not as happily as before. Three years later, he meets Shruti who he falls head over heels in love with, but she has something else on her mind altogether! This is the story of how they try desperately to move on from their pasts so that they can start afresh... Hamari Adhuri Kahaani was released on 1 January 2010 and is the directorial debut of Aanand L Rai. The film stars Emraan Hashmi and Esha Gupta in lead roles with Abhay Deol, Divya Jagdale, Jimmy Shergill and Bhavana Balsavar in supporting roles. The film was shot extensively in Paris and Amsterdam. There has been a reported delay in the release of this movie because it is initially one copy DVD only to be released on 1 January 2010. There is reportedly a demand for 2 rewads (The film will be rewad due to some delay) But the producer has not made any announcement about it yet. The movie was supposed to be out by December 2009 but due to some conflicting schedules the release date was changed. The film did well at the Box-office. The DVD version has 6.55 lakh copies sold worldwide.The soundtrack of the film contains 6 songs, all composed by Aadesh Shrivastava with lyrics penned by Jayanta Mahapatra, Ravindra Jain and Anand L Rai. The music rights are acquired by T-Series for an undisclosed amount. The songs were composed by Aadesh Shrivastava and lyrics were penned by Jayanta Mahapatra and Ravindra Jain. The songs were first sung by Harshdeep Kang and Megha Wahi, then Priyanka Bhardwaj and Shreya Ghoshal, then Shaan Taneja and Alka Yagnik. Aadesh's music was received well as some of the Ujjain city's more prominent folklores also found their way into this album such as "Maa Soneri Bohu Bhera" . The song "Pachha Re" was a huge hit during the festive season, but after its recording Shreya Ghoshal refused to sing it. The music rights are acquired by T-Series for an undisclosed amount.
